Ryan Specialty Group recently received the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year Award from Business Insurance at their 2021 U.S. Insurance Awards for its collaboration with the R.I.S.E. Opportunity Foundation (R.I.S.E.). The award recognized Ryan Specialty’s work as 2021’s most notable effort to promote diversity in the commercial insurance industry.
WATCH THE DIVERSITY & INCLUSION INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR AWARD PRESENTATION
Ryan Specialty’s initiative with R.I.S.E. centers on increasing diversity in the risk management and insurance (RMI) industry through promoting the recruitment, training, and placement of underrepresented members of our society throughout all levels of the commercial insurance industry workforce. This program’s initial step is the establishment of an RMI training, mentoring, and internship program for underrepresented minority students at select high schools and historically black colleges and universities.
The cornerstone of this initiative is a $2.5 million gift from the Ryan Family Foundation to support the development of the Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Risk Management Institute at Fisk University. The R.I.S.E. Opportunity Foundation has also partnered with the Spencer Educational Foundation, a leading industry non-profit dedicated to fostering the next generation of diverse and talented risk management and insurance professionals.
